cruise control problem

My cruise quit working however I am getting a green lite on the switch. The fuse and relay are fine already checked that out. How do I troubleshoot the cruise brain and the actuator. In fact where is the cruise brain anyway I see the actuator under the hood by the master cylinder.

If you get the FSM, there's 4 or 5 pages dealing with diagnosis and repair.
