Ginding From Front End

I've been getting a grinding noise from my front drivers side. It doesnt get faster with acceleration but it gets louder. I want to get an idea of what to look from when I take the wheel off. I'm not getting any abnormal brake dust from this side but my rotor appears to be getting f'ed up. My pads are good from what I can see. My only thought could be the caliper. Any feedback is good.

After reading the stickies. How do I know which bearing I need(inner/outer), or would I have to find out after I inspect the hub itself. I like to have everything I need before I tear stuff apart. Also I see different prices http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...heel&VehCode=Y but the parts look the same. Me and any other person would get the cheapest one. Is there a difference?

Quick check for wheel bearing problems:

Raise corner of car
Chock wheels (safety you know)
Make sure tranny is in neutral so wheel spins freely
Grasp tire at top and bottom and rock in and out firmly -- push in at the top whilst pulling out at the bottom, then visa-versa.

If you feel a "clunk clunk" as you push-pull at the top and bottom, it is likely that the wheel bearing is loose, and may need adjustment or possibly replacement.

sounds like the hub bearing...but if u said your rotor is getting f****d up, it might be those 2 bolts that hold your caliper, to the caliper bracket, I have had a couple of those get stuck, they are supposed to move in and out(the 2 bolts with rubber around it) I had these lock on me a couple of times, helped me, hope it helps u.

Got it taken care of. The damn how to's make everything look easy. I ended up takin it to a shop and having them swap out the bearing. They only charged me $60. Rides on clouds now. Do I have to get another alignement though?
