Alternator and power steering belt.

Alright, I decided to do an overhaul on my car. Stuck on 2 things.

-Power steering belt
-Alternator removal

I can't for the life of me get any tools behind the power steering pump to turn that one bolt from under the car behind the pump. It's on jack stands and I have small hands but the bolt just won't budge and I can't stick an extension in there, any ideas? Should I be doing this from above the car???? Or below, it's just not moving, can I do it without touching the rear bolt??

What bolts need removing for alternator replacement, it's attached to the AC but I can't tell which bolts are holding what, and should I remove all the plastic shrouding around it?

PS. I was doing a suspension replacement and while doing all of this, found out my strut bearings are dead, and both of my front calipers seized so badly that I haven't had front breaks in a year. Both sides have pads in a V wear shape. Bleeding ***, car is killing me.

yea that powersteering is a tricky one to get.

I got it from underneath, and a universal joint helped. dont forget to loosen the power steering belt you have to loosen the 10mm(i think) bolt that faces the passenger fender before you loosen the bolt under neath (facing the ground). If you have patience a 6" extension on a 3/8 ratchet with a universal joint you should be able to get it. If you dont mind and have time, pull the pass axle for more space.

Alternator is tricky too, but its just one long 14mm bolt holding it in. Once you have the belt off. remove the 12mm bolt that hold the top of the alternator to the inner timing case. a 14mm on a 6" extension should be able to get in and get thant alternator bolt free. Pushing up on the alternator while loosening that bolt helps speed up the process. Then wiggle the alternator out (might take some good wiggling)

yeah the inner alternator bolt (lower one) is a pain, you may want to remove the bolts holding the AC altogether and lower it and rest it on something, i did that and was able to get to the inner bolt easier.

The PS belt was left alone on my job as i ran out of time, but i did change the Alty belt while i replaced my alty

I get the inside PS bolt off with a ratchet wrench, quick and easy. Just reach in through the tie-rod area and get your hand behind it.

I also used a ratchet wrench and reached in through the tie rod area to get at the back PS bolt. Once I had the wrench in place, I then placed a pipe against the wrench and hit the pipe a few times with a hammer to knock the bolt loose.

thats pretty hard to do, if not impossible, its not that hard to take the fans out, 2 connectors at the top, remove the rad overflow hose, remove the intake scoop (if you still got it ) unclip the hose at the bottom and i think thats it

yea. only thing you might need to take off to make the alternator job easier is the tensioner, and/ or A/C.

taking the ac off and letting it hang frees up much needed space.
