What is th best upgrade for an auto?
Besides a Y-pipe and intake what would be the best performance upgrade for an auto. I was thinkin like an ECU upgrade or an OOVI. What have you guys done and what do you reccommend?

Thats right on. With the stock intake on the auto, the low end is very strong and the torque curve is more or less flat through out 4K Rpm. No dynos here, just the feel of it.

i dont think the intake argument is true. i put a short ram in my 97 and i got better throttle response and i bit more hp.
again....not dyno proven but its all about the feel.
that and i beat my friends 03 max

A stall is the best modification to an automatic.
Unless you plan on spending a lot of money on the car to make it decently fast, I would just drive it and not race it. Save your money and buy something meant to go fast, not a family sedan. Maxima's are nice cars to drive, not race. Keep it that way.

It doesnt even list a stall speed

Tough call, but I think I'd go for the the 99 due to lower miles. Check them both out for yourself, you may dismiss one, or both for that matter.

Nah, I snowboard. But I got this SN when I was like 8 yrs old. I was looking for a cool word or somethin, and I had one of the tony hawk video games in my hand and saw the word "mctwist" I thought it sounded cool so thats what I have been using ever since I can remember.
Wow that was a tear jerker

Bonus: Who was it named after?

I believe its a move where you do a complete flip in the air while at the same time do a 360 degree spin.
It was named after the great Edward Mctwist the 4th, of course!
On the 2001 should I just look for the core support and just poke around in the engine bay ? Test the shocks and struts and take it for a spin?
And a 4th gen Y pipe and suspension is not interchangeable with a 5th gen right?

Answer correct, bonus wrong. Mike McGill. Famous 80's / early '90s skateboarder. He was one of the original Powell Peralta (now just called Powell) Bones Brigade members. Like Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerro, Steve Caballero.

I had a auto with a tranny cooler, drop mod, and mobile 1 fluid. and the best mod was a 5-speed swap.
it was good for about 15hp and 3tenths off my 1/4. next best thing I would suggest is a tranny cooler and drop mod or tranny cooler and vb

I understand the 5 speed but god damn what is it wit yall not everyone wants to push a stick in/and out of gridlock traffic EVERYDAY....The max came witha 4speed auto and a 5speed manual, this man wants to upgrade a auto...ok back on topic....get the cooler first and if you can afford it go for the VB upgrade after that a higher stall TC is your next upgrade....besides that have the Mf'er rebuilt with stronger clutches etc...
