Making a CAI using an intercooler

Did anyone ever try to use an intercooler with a filter at one end and pipping to the TB at the other so that the intercooler cools the air? I know on a turbo setup the turbo pushes air through so if there's nothing pushing air through the intercooler it will probably resitrict air flow with a filter and no turbo to push air but would it?

Please do away with this idea asap. Intercooler is a heat sink for compressed air, since forced air is heated by compression an intercooler would help in boosted applications, but not n/a. I don't see it being any advantage over a regular cai placed in the fender well. It may sound cool to you but it will not work. On hot days the intercooler and piping may actually retain heat causing cooler air to be heated up anyway. Not to mention you will look like a poser with no boost. Ask any racer...any real racer.

The intercooler can only cool air to the temperature of the outside air. Since the air going into the intercooler is already that temperature, it won't cool it any further. It will just restrict flow.

As the pressure of air increases, so does the temperature. Air coming out of a turbo is not only high pressure, but also very hot and fast moving. The intercooler restricts a bit of the flow, but the benefit from cooling the air more than outweighs that.

An intercooler on a turbo is like dropping ice cubes into hot water to cool it off. An intercooler on NA is like dropping ice cubes into the snow to cool it off.
