Battery and E-brake indicator lights

My battery and e-brake indicator lights will come on at random times and stay on for a few seconds. They turn on simultaneously and then turn off again. Do I have a bad battery, brake fluid leak, what? Any guesses?

Your alternator is crapping out. Get one asap before you get stranded somewhere.

^^^ may be right, but make sure the posts of your battery are clean and you have a good connection to the battery.

Yeah I was thinking I should check the battery terminals. Now, the lights aren't always on, just periodically. So would the alternator be working fine while the lights are off?

It will be alternator's problem. I ignored the signs and drove onto downtown. Like 15 min. later, the engine was stopped on the traffic. The car was towed.

Get your charging system (alternator) checked before you go out there and start replacing things. Most of the time the lights on the dash start to come on like that when the voltage starts to get below a certain point which is an indicator that the alternator is starting to go bad. But to be sure go somewhere that will check the system out for you at no charge (Autozone is one place) so you can know for sure that the alternator is the problem.

I took the car into a mechanic today and they said the alternator works just fine. The temperatures have been in the single digits and teens lately. Could that have an effect on any electrical parts?
