Not bad at all considering its K&N, and the MAF adaptor is aluminum not plastic, cause the plastic ones tend to break

Oh just that cone filter will alter how the throttle will react. I wish I had all the stock components still because I have a bored out throttle body now and would like to see the difference it would do.

Also stock seems to be the best for HP throughout the RPM range.

^^^i dont think so

i have nothing but positive things to say about my intake but like any mod besides forced induction dont expect to have a ferrari beater because of a intake that where most people let themselves be fooled, it takes multiple well chosen mods to make these cars run at their true potential.

Honestly a true cai will help a little but not much by its self. As stated dont think you are going to run down a corvette and its quieter than a short ram also.

With short ram intakes like that and if you're automatic, you'll feel a loss in low end power. But it does give a BAD @$$ sound though!

after going back to stock, I really miss my intake. They really add alot of top end, and the bottom end I think is just all inour heads, it sounds like its working harder but really its not a huge difference in bottom end. overall the intake adds alot of kick. only thing I didnt like about it was the slight hiss at idle (Only Injen CAI's do this noticably)

I think intakes are great, but I don't really think this auction is worth its price. Its basically adapters to make a short ram using their provided K&N filter. Look for a cold air intake (as well as the install guide here on the site) and see if you want to try it. It howls deeply like a beast, and does add a little top end, like everyone stated. Ebay cold air intakes (PR replicas) are around $50 or less shipped, and typically pretty good quality. I've had mine for a year now.

Dude, you need to get that. I had a short ram intake, I loved the growl but it was a little much at times. And the loss of low end was not in my head, it was very evident. There is an excellent thread somewhere about the benifits of keeping the stock resonator and attaching an adapter and using just a cone filter. I personally think that is the best balance. Keep the stock resonater, ditch the airbox and pop on a cone filter. Trust me, not too loud, keep your low end and you'll love it.

If anybody noticed in the stock "resonator box" where the breather hoses run there is a rubber liner inside, i got curious and pulled the ****er out, and also replaced it with a 2' to 3' coupler from autozone it makes the intake alot quieter and you get some more throttle response through the mid-range

Umm OK?...
I have had about 10 different styles of intake all custom made and I noticed that with stock, throttle response is best. I dont really need the miniscule amount of upper RPM power that an intake can provide. Being that I have an auto stock is the best for lower RPM response and seems to make the power curves smoother.

Oh and where in my post did I say anything about adding gobs of power and being able to beat Ferraris with an intake? All i was attempting to say was that stock makes the HP/torque curves smoother and helps throttle reponse.

I've been using the stock air box with a pipe going down into where the fender should be cut so that it can be a CAI and that has worked wonders for me on the butt dyno of course. I also have a bp initiatives velocity stack and a K&N Filter RF-1048. his set-up has worked and it has the beastiest growl ever every time you give it gas and I havent felt any loss in my throttle response.

only the "i dont think so" part was ment for you, as in i dont agree, i believe i picked up better throttle response all around with the intake... the rest was my own speech.

Nah, I just meant the flat one for a stock airbox if you were staying with the airbox. If you're thinking about that cone on ebay, I would just buy the the STILLEN cone filter. It's made by K&N, included this think metal piece(forgot the name of it) haha, and sounds amazing! Also, based on that ebay pictue, it looks like the stillen filter has a larger filter area. It's not that expensive either...Plus we live in the f***in northeast, so we kinda have less of a need for a cold air intake.

its a velocity stack, probably worth one hp. youre better off buying a K&N somewhere offline and buying a MAF adapter from the parts store and calling it a day.
