Lights are out....help!

Tonight I went into my car and as I turned on the headlights my gauge, radio and climate control lights did not light up. However the seatbelt light on the gauge, plus the radio and climate lights lit up when the headlights were off. Therefore when the headlights were on nothing else worked.

Could I have blown a fuse, if so what one and how would I replace it. I need to drive tonight but I can't cause I can't see a damn thing.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Try looking for a blown fuse in the fuses boxes tomorrow in the light...obviously start with the more obvious ones like lights, etc... good luck

Got it!

I checked all of my fuses and all are in working order. I then took out and disconnected my dimmer switch and it "smelt" funny. Kind of like a burnt smell. I reconnected it and amazinly it worked. But I am sure that sometime soon I will not be as lucky and the dimmer switch will blow out. How much do they run?

This was a great use of the daylight savings times.........

Did you just have alarm put in? Running a 12V (for the flashing lights) to the wrong wire of the dimming switch will burn it out...

Battery Installation

Didn't have an alarm installed however last Tuesday my car died and I needed a new battery. Everything worked fine after that. Could that have been my problem?

I doubt a dead battery would cause the switch to go out...
