bro, an intake is a intake If u get the CAI u will have to cut a hole into the fender. If u dont want to do that get the short ram and put on a K&N filter bc the filters they give u is cheap as hell. I have a ebay intake as well and works greats, jus make sur eu get a better filter

i think the overall concensus on the 4th gen forum is that your best intake is the stock intake - at least best for low end, which is what 95% of us want anyway...

i knew the autos lost low end, i didn't think the 5spds did. what i'm really looking for is a mean growl intake noise.

Wow that's so funny you guys say that because I had a jim-wolfe popcharger and I took it off and went back to stock and even though the sound was gone it felt much faster and smoother down low, and yes my car is a manual

I used part of the stock box. The part closest to the TB where the hoses comoe out of and go into the intake manifold and the TB and from that I have the ebay bent pipe that goes into my fender to get cold air. And I have a velocity stack with a big fat 7 inch K and N filter and it does me wonders. Sounds great not sure if it does anything if it does maybe a few horsepower.

Does our cars have a resonator box thing or whatever? The stock intake seems best, but it doesn't seem like a solid 1 piece though.

There are a few resonators actually. Removing and blocking off the dead end ones might give you more intake noise with no performance effect, but I couldn't say that for sure.

advice of a newb. Intakes are not just intakes. CAI add low take high, HAI take low add some high. Yeah stock box is somewhat restrictive but best overall curve. Can customize the stock box if you want but I would stay stock. Aftermarket is really for the sound. It's not best for power. That's my opinion and some facts as well.

:edit: btw there is one resonator not a few.
