Took old "aftermarket" wires out and now won't start
I snipped my dumb grounding wires that I had installed years ago. After snipping them, the car would turn over but wouldn't start. So I took all the bolts out to properly remove all the old wires and while loosening the headlight grounding bolt, it snapped on me. So I wedged the grounding terminal up against the sheet metal to keep it grounded. Then the car started up ok, didn't crank great but started nevertheless. I drilled a new hole in the sheetmetal and got another bolt to re-ground the headlight properly. After I finished I tried starting it again expecting to have no problems but the car wouldn't crank and when I took the key out, the dashbord lights stayed on and my elec. windows still worked...very weird. I tried sanding the terminal down to get a better connection but didn't change nothing.
My guess is it shorting out but I know nothing about this kind of stuff. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
Edit: The only way I could get my dashboard lights to turn off is by disconnecting the battery. I then reconnected it and tried it again, same problem.

Still on the original ignition switch? They're a relatively common part to go bad in the A32, and stuck contacts in the ignition switch would explain the car staying in IGN after you removed the key.
~$30, 10 screws, 2 bolts, 15 minutes and you're done.
Search around for the installation instructions.
Nissan part number 48750-1E411, when I looked around for one a year or two ago they were not only the cheapest (vs auto parts stores), but they were the only ones to actually have it in stock.
Oh wow that is awesome thank you very very very much for your help! I actually try to always use nissan parts on my car anyways, so geuss i will call the dealer on monday and let you guys know how it goes, thanks again pmohr your very nice unlike some people on here, they should make you one of those moderator people if you arent allready

No problem, I try.
Moderator, eh? Heh, if only.
Given the chance, I'd have no problem volunteering
I've already got sponsor status on my350z (http://www.my350z.com/forum/member.php?u=87414), being a mod would be nice. Definitely clean up a lot of these crap threads in here...

what you mean your tired of all the "what intake" & "which exhaust" threads?
There's gold in those....
I also would have no problem volunteering as a mod on this forum. I'm on here every day anyway.
