Time for Shocks?????

My 95 ( owned since new) now has 152,000 mostly trouble free miles on it. At 50,000 miles I replaced the OEM shocks with Tokico Blues. I think it might be time again for shocks.

I just got off from a 1600 mile road trip (interstate) driving mostly at 80-85, but now and then stretches of 30-50 miles at 90. It seems like the feeling of being planted to the road is gone. Dips on the interstate don't cause a complete bottom out, but the stability just seems to be missing.

Should the shocks be worn out by now??? AND I plan on another 50,000 miles for this vehicle, so is it worth going for Illumina's with the Illumina spring package?????

This is my main driver summer and winter. It gets four Blizzaks put on it in the winter and makes a 350 mile ski trip over a 9800 ft pass in the northern Rockies each weekend. Roads here in Wyoming are pretty decent but I am not willing to give up all road comfort for cornering.

Keep in mind I am 55, and the Maxima has 151,000 miles on it. I am not going to put a pile of money into coil overs etc.

What do you guys think???

So about 100k miles on shocks, it's very possible they need to be replaced. Did you stick with the stock springs when you put those in? Illumina's are nice shocks, and the adjustablility is nice to cater the ride.

still have the oem springs. Can't imagine it is not sagging some, but that is not the same as lowering

well the stock springs are very loose, if i drive a stock car it feels like its gonna roll over from the soft springs. I wouldn't worry about it.

I really don't know why I didn't go with Ilumina's to start with and now for the extra $100 or so I think I will go that route. Also going to have to think more about new srpings. Mine have to be sagged somewhat so how much lower will I really end up with Illumina springs on a already sagging car??
