DIY: Oil pressure switch?

I take it replacing my oil pressure switch is easy, since my mechanic said he can do it (p/l) for $95. Is this something I can do fairly quickly? I'm a beginner-to-intermediate mechanic.

How long will it take me? I have to leave town tonight at 8:00---no later!

Thanks for any helpful hints.

Also---is replacing the boot and bushings of the rack & pinion hard? Gonna tackle that, too.

You can do it. It's a $6 part from AZ. And another $6 if you buy the special socket (why not?)

DIY writeup here.

I tried the link above for the DIY oil pressure switch, but the link only takes you back to the main page. Does anyone have a better link?

you really dont even need a diy. is it the oil presure switch behind the lower oil pan towards the firewall? i didnt even use a special socket...just a wrench. it took me 20mins to do it

jack up the car, put it on stands, grab some some wrenches unplug it, take off the old one put on the new one.

make sure to wrap the threads in teflon tape for a good seal

do you have to empty the oil to do this?

i have a mechanical oil pressure gauge tapped into where this would plug in. its starting to leak due to a douchey-install and need to fix it but will wait till i have to change my oil if necessary. thanks
