Who sad cleaning throttle body dont help?

Today I cleaned my throttle body. WOW I finally dont haveidle problem. I have a 5spd. My idle is up to700 from 600. When I turn on the lights there is no more vibration and RPM drop. The car runs smoother and quicker. Well lets hope this will continue for a long time. Not just today. Thanks to all who helped me. You know who you are.

You clean it by removing the intake and spraying it. Where the butterfly is. That helps your idle and air flow.

I think the comment referred to replacing the throttle body with a larger one, or boring out the throttle body. Cleaning the throttle body is part of a standard preventive maintenance program. I think everytime you go in for 30,000 mile service, they dump a bottle of cleaner in your fuel tank...

No, he's talking about acutally taking off the rubber end goin into the trottle body, spraying TB cleaner in there, scrubbing it I guess, and bolting it all back together...I will do this soon cause I have that same idle drop even when I roll down the windows and stop...the stuff that goes in your gast tank is for your fuel system and injecters

190hpkilla...Do I scrub the inside and wipe it down or scrub and just put back together and start ?? give me the process please

Make sure you buy throttle body cleaner for fuel injected cars.
Take the intake tubing off with car off. Spay and clean. Dont spray too much. Scrub, scrub. Move the butterfly around. Put everything back but dont tighten the screws. Start the car. It will have trouble starting. Dont worry its normal. After running for like 5 min. Shut it off. Take everything apart again and this time start the car. Rev the engine a bit and spray for like 10 seconds not more. wait. Rev it and spray again. Repeat this process few times. Dont spray too much as it may cause the catalitic converter to overheat.
Then put averything back and repeat step one until the inside is clean. Dont over do it. 2 times each way is more then enough. Then drive your car around. Good luck

Fuel injector cleaner (the kind you pour into the gas tank) will not clean your throttle body. Fuel is injected downstream of the throttle body.

Did you clean behind the butterfly or just spray. I guess that you used a toothbrush to scrub with. Any other specifics?

You know that you can do a better job. Just buy a TB gasket and take it off to clean it. Then you can make sure to get it done right. It's not that much more work either.

can you take a pic of the "butterfly"? I don't know what you're talking about, I took the intake piping off, then I see a blocked hole with some shiny piece blocking the hole? Did I opened up the wrong spot? I got bad/low idle and the part I opened was 100% clean

Yes its safe running the car without the intake. Good luck. I love the way it works after I cleaned it. Its allways clean before the throttle body, but when you open it and spray and scrub you will see how dirty that **** is. WARNING. Dont over spray you will have truouble starting your car. Refer to upper instaructions.

I just have someone sit in the car with their foot on the accelerator pedal floored. This way I can use both hands to spray and scrub

why would it be bye bye engine if the car is on while flooring it and cleaning? i did this and my car is fine...the cleaner instructions even said to clean this way (as the primary method) and if the car would not remain on, then spray, reattach pipe, start, remove and clean again, repeating until done.

You won't blow the engine, but its not good for the engine either. There's no load to the engine and its revving to redline..I think a lot of fuel doesn't get burnt since the car's at WOT and the ecu is on OPEN-LOOP and fuel is just getting dumped in the cylinders and a lot of it doesn't get burnt and deposits are left in the cylinders.
