Stillen Kit...Drivers side Door !!

Ever since I got my Stillen Kit installed, my drivers side door doesnt want to shut all that well. When I had it put on, the body shop said that the thickness of the kit and the tape together was a little too much and they couldnt change that difference. It closes but not all that great...its the edge around the bottom of the door. I know its not the door sagging cause I can see it hitting the kit, and with the kit not there, it would be fine.

Anything I can do for this ?? I dont wanna go shaving the top of the kit cause youll be able to see that when the doors closed.

Any advise

Sounds like about all you really can do is either shave some off the top of the side skirt, or the bottom of the door. Obviously it'd have to be repainted, but that's a given.

Can you lower the kit at all? I know i have to retap my holes for my kit to allow my door to close.

I have the same problem. the double side stick tape it to thick. I have had my kit on for sometime now and it worn it away some and now it shuts better than it did when I now put it on... Good luck.

Thats right!! The Double Sided tape is too thick and raises the kit up too much for that gap. Therfore not allowing the door to close right.

You know what really gets me, is that the pass side door doesnt do this. Maybe ill just shave down that upper lip that wraps around. At least my door with close right.

Find some thinner heavy duty double sticky tape and redo it, or remove the double sticky section for that door only so the kit gets slightly lower. The screws at the front and back of kit (w/in the wheel wells) will keep things where they are. IMO, only a few pieces (if at all) of double sticky tape are even needed to begin with; since the screws do most of the work.

Or like stated previously, trim/modify the skirt and have it repainted.

Poor craftsmanship on the body shops part.

We used to shave the top of the side skirts down and test fit them over and over again to make sure the door cleared the additional thickness. Thats the correct way to prep the kit before installation. The top part of the side skirts need to be sanded down pretty thin. We never used tape on top either, just a few rivits to hold it in place. The rivits didn't add any thickness to the top of the skirts like the tape does.

Done correctly, the kit fits perfectly.

I would guess either sand down the inner underside of the top of the side skirts possible in conjunction with losing the double sided tape and using an epoxy.
