HID INSTALL....help

ok so i took out my friends hids off his wrecked silvia 240sx. they need new bulbs but i would have had to get the 9004 anyway.

problem is what do i do with the power wire?
it has a red and a black wire but the stock bulbs have a yellow, green/yellow and, black wire. what should i do for this?

in the haynes manual it says that the green is the low and the yellow is the high. but i dont know what to hook where

also what color should i get when i get new bulbs? im thinking about the 30000k(purple). suggestions? legal in FL?

You have a very common problem for 4th genners. I will tell you how to fix it.

1) Toss the POS HID kit into the trash can or sell it to some dope on ebay.
2) Buy some projectors, Hella gen 3 ballasts, Phillips 4300K bulbs, and extra set of headlight housings (preferrably the CE glass style). Then get a bunch of 10 and 18AWG wire, diodes, automotive relays, split loom, and quick disconnectors.
3) Lurk HIDplanet.com until you either decide to do something cool or sell everything off.

And to answer your question, HIDs in a 4th gen maxima are illegal everywhere, and 30000K bulbs are absolutely worthless.

I get that, but you are going to blind everyone on the road. Do it right the first time.

He won't be blinding anyone but himself if he gets 30000k bulbs. Might as well hold a pocket flashlight out the window.

It is totally relative to the color temp of the surrounding light, and it changes from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Funniest thing I've heard in a LONG time. +1!!!

Get either 4300k or 6000k. Those are the only too that give good output in ALL conditions. Everything else is just for show.

And DEFINITELY...DEFINITELY...get projectors.

Do it once...do it right.

6k is pretty much the color, the closer to 4300K u are the more light(4300k is pretty much the color of sunlight: white) u are going to get out of ur bulbs, the problem is the stock housings are not designed to handle the extra light HIDs put out, it will illuminate the road better yes, but for the other drivers it will just blind them, especially 8k and 10k bulbs they are by far the worst with glare

Not only are HID bulbs much brighter than halogen but the dispersion of origin of light (a little spherical capsule instead of a thin long filament) is completely different, which disperses the beam pattern in ways that it should not be dispersed.

I30s do not have projectors. If you want good projectors, check out 6th gen Maximas with HIDs, Infiniti FX's and S2000s. If you want cheap projectors, check out E46 BMWs with HIDs.
