Opinion on this exhaust set up

My whole exhaust system is pretty much gone and I enjoy quiet but I also would like the car to breath better so my option are

Stock Header>y-pipe>Test Pipe>Stock Resinator> Stock Muffler

Header and Y-pipe from ebay(unkown Stainless brand)
>Test Pipe>Stock Reisinator>Stock Muffler.

Thanks

unless you are on a budget get a catback too. you can get ones that are pretty quiet.

my opinion:
leave headers alone (if you are fed spec) (only headers with real gains/good sound are cattmans but they are $$$)
y pipe, budget or ebay would be fine too probably (if you get cattman headers, get the cattman equal length y pipe too then, but also $$$)
use existing cat or get a highflow cat.
greddy sp2 or apexi WS catback. both are pretty quiet, I think the apexi is quieter tho.

edit: why do you want an exhaust, I thought you said maximas werent fast cars, so why are you wasting your time? get a sports car...

<--- i think many of us started our cars as "reliable commuters". My cars oem y pipe rotted out and the rest wasnt in great shape either. When i went to Nissan they quoted me about $1100 in just parts.
I called Brian Cattman instead. No regrets.

That set-up is fine. The real restriction is in the y-pipe. Sure, members have seen gains from cut-puts etc, but for best performance, with least sound, it is fine.

Do any of you bother to read?

"My whole exhaust system is pretty much gone"

I would assume he is replacing everything.

Also, if it's cheaper, getting a freer-flowing exhaust isn't a bad thing, even if the max isn't a sports car.

Yes all that is good is my manifold(I Think) Off Topic( 96 vette/93 Stang)..I already order nissan resinator and muffler) Didnt want to replace the cat so I ordered a Test pipe. Just don't know if I should put on the headers that came with y-pipe. Got the set from ebay (estores) without doing my homework.
Thanks

Just get a Y-pipe and a high flow cat with stock catback if you want, quiet, good breathing, and reliability at "lower" cost. A test pipe is just a bad idea, unless you are boosted. (That goes for legal purposes as well as function.)

The ypipe from the ebay combo will fit your OEM manifolds from what I have read. Headers are a bit involved, and not worth the time..unless the are the cattmans like explained above.

I would say just get a y-pipe and get replacement stock stuff for everything else for a strictly commuter car. Without a catalytic converter you likely won't pass emissions and it'll just make the car even louder and will probably smell of unburnt fuel. Test pipes really prove no gain on an NA Maxima, either.

Has far as Test Pipe, Not really worried about passing emissions....It's just a cheaper alternative, plus Someone gave me a new one(hope it wont hurt). From your posts I say Stock Header>y-pipe>Test Pipe>Stock Resinator> Stock Muffler is what I will go with. I will post weeks when done results..Thanks Again
