suspension problems?

I have a '95 SE Eibach progressive springs, tokico struts, and the stillen rear sway bar with the stock 15" rims, tires---Yokohama S306--P215/60 R15 93H. the car sticks to the road like glue at any speed. I bought a set of 97-99 I believe, stock 16" SE rims from someone here on the org. I replaced the old tires that came with the rims with Yokohama YK420 P215/55 R16 91V. Now the car feels loose, realy bouncy and unstable going down the highway.
Any ideas or suggestions as to what might be causing this? Thanks for all the input and responses.

When did you do the shock install? How many miles are on them? Are they worn?

Not an issue. I have put the 15"s on the car and it is tight again! But i like the 16" rims better

By bouncy do you mean that the suspension is more like it was stock than after the mods? Is it only unstable at highway speeds? Is the sidewall correct for 16" rims? Im not sure but I think 50 series rubber is the correct size, but I know little about tires and could easily be wrong. Ask "SprintMax" - I know he knows a fair amount about suspension setups.

It sounds like the rims are either damaged or not balanced properly. Or something is wrong with a tire{s}. These are the only possibilitys really. BTW I like your screen name .

I noticed the same darn thing. My suspension evolution started with the stock 95SE rims. Fairly good ride/handling. I then changed to 99 - 16" 5 spoke rims and the car felt "hoppy" and sloppy. I then upgraded to H&Rs with Tokicos and for about 1 week, I thought, "this ain't bad". After that I get annoyed every time I drive the car. I then upgraded to better tires (Yoko AVS dB) which are 225/55/16. Then I feel like I lost low end and it hops and bounces even more!

So my decision is that the Tokicos may not be strong enough to handle the intcreased weight of the tires/wheels. I bet you the bounciness is due to 2 factors:
1) Tokico blues are not very good with suspension dampening over time
2) Your wheel weight has increased (like mine) and the unsprung weight has reeked havoc on your suspension/ride.

The answer for me is to never lower my car again, ALWAYS buy an adjustable shock/strut and just change sway bars to get better handling.

Hope this helps.

What is your tire pressure? Are the wheels properly torqued? I'm not familiar with the Yokohama YK420's; are they unidirectional or winter tires?
