not that dyno, I have my own

I am talking about a mevi/nwp spacer dyno

I moved back from Austin to Dallas last June, and I still have my Maxima (only 112k on the clock). I've been lazy but I still need to sell my NOS 5124 kit; althought it seems the 5124 has fallen out of favor with users here.

Regarding the spacers are the gains primarilly from reducing heat soak of the intake manifold, or does it also have to do with increasing the length/velocity of the intake airflow?

Seems to be a combination of both. On the 5.5 gen, it defiantely sounds better, even w/ a stock airbox.

Unfortunately, sounding better and adding power can often be mutually exclusive outcomes.

The reason I asked is that as I recall, the MEVI works because the butterflies effectively make the piping act like longer runners than the stock intake manifold. I'm wondering if using the spacers will cause another drop on the low end and add back on the top end.

Will do. But I doubt I will ever start making a 1" thick TB spacer. Until I can prove the gains, I can't comment on the performance increase. Most aluminum TB spacers I've seen are not worth the money.

The TB spacers we offer are made of a high quality phenolic laminate and is only a 1/4" thick. You won't be able to tap a nitrous nozzle in a 1/4" thick spacer.

Are you referring to the 1/4" phenolic TB spacer?

As NmexMAX said, it's a combination of both. You will still get noticeable results simply by lengthening the intake runners. But by just doing that and nothing else, you will lose top end performance since you are shifting the torque band. But since you eliminate the stock poorly sized OEM gaskets and actually improve the airflow from one manifold to another, top end power isn't decreased. Also, the extreme intake manifold temperature decrease prevents heat soak power loss when you are hotlapping at the track or stuck in traffic in the summer.

You may be thinking about it backwards. The longer the intake runners, the more low end power you'll make while sacrificing top end performance. The shorter the runners, the less low end power with more top end.
