Tokico shocks

O.K. guys, I need a little help. I am going to help a fellow maxima owner put some new springs and stuts on his ride. I have put springs on mine so that is not a problem. But with the tokico, is there anything you have to do to install these besides just bolting them on? I know with the adjustiable Konis you have to cut part of the old strut? Anyway, any help would be great. I just like to know exactly what I am getting into BEFORE I get started.

Thanks

Aaron

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! The aftermarket Tokico Strut/Shocks are considered inadequate by many Max.org members. They are reported to offerless control and handling and do not last. If you search "Tokico" you will discover many dissatisfied osers. I'm switching mine out for KYB GR-2's this weekend.

umm not true AT ALL!! iv had mine in for 2yrs now and they seem fine to me, no problems to report on

Iam making the switch to KYB AGX and B&G springs this coming summer along with all the suspension hardware that goes along with it. Ill use my H&R's as paper wieghts and throw the tokicos out!

Actually the Tokicos have been just fine for me. They are in fact much better than stock shocks, but do not offer the adjustability of the Koni or KYB AGX shocks.

KYB-GR2's are not performance shocks. They are replacement shocks, meant to replace the OEM setup. I'm not sure how well they will hold up on a lowered suspension.

Well thanks for the response, but what you guys have said didn't answer what I was asking. I was just wondering if the tokico's just bolt up or do you have to do some kind of modification to install them? These aren't for me, I am just helping a friend put them on because I have done springs before.

They bolt right on like the stockers no modification, and by the way tokico only goes fast if you go over 1.5" because it was not made for anything over that.

Well, you can add me to the list of people who think Tokicos are inadequate for lowering. I have the Sprint springs and would not recommend the Toks at all. They bounce around like crazy. I've ridden in Ryan's car with the H&Rs and the toks work great with them. I'm sure the Toks would be best when used with OEM springs.

Anyway, I'm gettin AGXs from Santa.

i was thinking it was due to the harshness of the spring (sprint..very harsh) but if it has to do with the drop, you think they would still be okay with the b&g? (1.7'' drop)

the basic instruction/warranty on my agx's says that they do not cover any damage to struts/shocks if they were used with springs dropping lower than 1.5". (same as tokicos)
