Rpm's rise and fall
Rpm's rise and fall
Well my rpms when i first start the car will idle between 1500-2000rpms....then if i turn the car off and turn it back on within a couple of hours..the rpms will stay at 3-3500rpms. Is my tps going out? or is it my maf?
is there a way to reset any of them?

from what I gather from searching on the org is that manny people have experienced simmilar problems on 4th gen. And even stranger is that after reading all the threads it seems as if no one has been able to pinpoint the culprit. Some people change ignition coils with no improvement, Some people remove the fast idle plunger to keep the revs down but this is merely masking the real problem which to my knowledge is still unknown. I myself have the same problem from time to time but not always bit if I manage to figure it out I will be sure to post. My only advise is that its something to do with the throttle body and the surrounding sensors (I think) so replacing the throttlebody may help.
Perhaps idle air control and or vacuum leaks? Maybe a stuck throttle too? Something has to be letting more air in, if all it was was the TPS reporting a false reading but everything else working perfectly, in theory there shouldn't be enough air for it to possibly idle at 3500RPM.
Is it a tick that comes on after the car is warmed up? the fuel injectors make a tick too, but if its what I think u are talking about, its slower than the injector and louder and starts when the car is warmed up. I got this issue too and thought that it may be the evap purge volume control valve, or the evap purge control valve, bot on top of the IM, replaced those with ones i got from a junk yard, its still there(the noise) I think it might be the evap purge valve, I had this code before, but then it just went away.
Thats right, ghost codes. Like the one I got P0500(vehicle speed sensor) no SES, but checked OBDII, and there it was. Now that I think about it thats tranny related, and checking the tranny code manually, did throw it in my case.
