I work at Johns Auto Parts (Auto Recycler) Junkyard for the others) and we had someone bring one in. 96 Maxima, 5sp. Locking Diff, 212,000 miles. Reason for Junking (broken) Hooked battery pack up. got her started (hard) Had a friend hook up his computer to it. Cleared the codes, Starts , but still hard. I have to pump it a bit, and need to do a tune up. But anyway, I asked my Gm if he would give me the same amount ($650) for my 93 Grand Voyager 225,000 for the Max. He agreed. So esentially i'm trading the van straight up for the max. Gotta love Nissan.

After doing some research, I decided that the 4th gen has the "best bang for the buck". And by some twist of fate, my cousin decided to sell his pristine 1998 gle for a price I can't refuse. And the rest is history.

Had a 92 Maxima for 11 years, bought a 03 Maxima and after 5 years still love them. They are the biggest bang for the buck car I have ever owned. Think about it, they are nice looking cars, they are fast and they are dependable. As a matter of fact I may give the 03 Max to my daughter and buy my wife a 09/10 Maxima.

I put 187,000 virtually trouble miles on my 87 max SE, I now have 90,000 trouble free miles on my 98 SE, great cars, more distinctive looking than most Japanese stuff out there, lots of after-market parts available...

Well, it was my wifes car to begin with. I was driving my 04 Trailblazer on dubs. I started driving the maxima to work to save on gas and just got hooked on how well it drove and the money it saved me. Could have bought a new car but i'd rather save $300 a month and told my wife that i was just going to mod the maxima to the way i like it (after seeing how good they can look on the .org and car domain). Keeping it was the best decision i ever made.

How could you say no to maxima nor the infiniti ?

Theres no way for me to reject good deal when I bought inifniti last week.....1998 inifniti I30 about 187,XXX miles on it and also it came with 17 and 18 inches chrome rims.

everything is in order and works perfectly.

Engine is sooo smooth at this HIGH mileage.

EDIT: I forget to add one more thing ..only paid 1500 for it.

My uncle has a 2006 that I drove last year and I was in love.
A couple of days before my 17th birthday, I landed my first job, and told my dad that I wanted to get my car. I had already been looking, and I just love nissan reliability and styling, and the speed of the maxima. Gas mileage is great, as I get about mid-20s consistently.
Got it for $4000 with 107,000 miles
I had $3800, and my dad put in the rest $200, $200 for warranty, and $380 for tax/title/registration fees.

Got the 91 single over head cam white maxima from my mama at 16 in 2000. Maxy had key pad on door, leather and I drove it like a bat out of hell without flipping it over or crashing it. I could always get the tires to spin when I left work. Then it started to get issues and run like crap, shaking. When to the dealership in feb 02 and they showed me a white 97 pearl white SE with sunroof and cloth with 28,000 miles for $13,000. I did it for the 91 was in bad shape. My first mod was a la bra(doh), the good ole days!

My wife crashed our beloved G20 (not her fault) and I started looking for another SR20DE - I found an 200SX SE-R but a friend of mine convinced me to look for a 4th gen Maxima (he has a manual 96 I30). one week after the accident I found a manual 99 SE 88k for 4k. I had a few minor problems but so far .... I love it (except the gear box)!

I dont understand how it reminds you of a skyline at all ...

And pahaf, just because your car is having some problems, like every car out there does, doesnt mean the Maxima sucks, or even your Maxima.

So, webjohn, your saying, if you had a choice, between a Maxima, and a lil honda, you would pick the lil honda over the Maxima ??

yeah, but still....you got to admit it, little honda are much better then our maximas....we got so many damn problems....coils, starters, alternators, mpg issues with a lot of people, stupid knock sensors, valve cover gaskets, camshaft and crank sensors...

its a high maintenance car....it is kinda quick, but i would rather prefer a Honda Accord V6 2000...its not a bad car, but its already old. and has old parts on it....but every1 to their own taste i guess

(im just pissed right now cause it was starting like crap, i did the grounding thingy, it fixed it, but now one of the injectors decided not to work.)

Back in 98, I finally realized, transporting my baby daughter in and out of the rear seat of the supra was a struggle. So in December 98 I went to a nissan dealer with my wife and child, tested the baby seat in the rear of a 99 and I was sold!

I'll get a small pedal bike, before I ever get a lil honda.. General maintence, thats what you do to keep your car in top or in good working order, ohh ya, and not driving the car hard helps it alot also.

true that. my friend bought a 2000 honda accord and the day after the transmission died. i laughed in face cause i told him not to buy it, looked into the problem and it so happens the honda got sued for making such crappy transmissions in the 98-00 honda accords. so yeah honda imo is FTL

i didnt....what i really wanted in the first place was a COBRA but my dad told me i could either wait a month to get the mustang or i could have my mom's car which was the MAXIMA right now and it was the weekend, had a date and i didnt wanna take my oldsmobile car anywhere else, lol. so...i just sucked it up,took a deep breathe while screaming the "F" word inside of me and just smiled and took the keys. and after about a couple months i started to like it especially when i raced my friend's V6 mustang, lol.

Pretty much. for me i had two older brothers with nissan's, a 240 and a Z32, didnt wanna bit em so i started liking the Max, Fast&furious Vince just took it to another level. and plus now that i think about it, back in '98 on the bus on the way to school would always pass this house with a white 4th gen, with the works, stillen + the type 2! debaged, shaved trunk with the momo arrows just parked outside. most beautifulest thing..back in 1998 you know it was brand new, dude was ballin, feels so good now i got one, couldnt afford the 4th so i started w/ the 3rd, still kinda miss it

I started off with a 94 Altima as my first car and decided that it was time to get something bigger. Found my 99 in my area that was exactly what i wanted in the same identical color as the Altima. Had to have it...

i bought my maxima as my second car after i blew the engine on my grand prix, im not into any american cars that r made today, and i wanted somethin fast but reliable, i prob would have gone with a german car, like a 1.8t, but i realized that they rnt the best at always workin properly, i kinda just stumbled upon my maxima, i was lookin for a car for round 5 grand with low miles, and i found mine with 76k miles on it, its a 97 gle by the way, it had the leather seats bose stereo and a sun roof so it immediately stuck out 4 me, and then i found out bout the engine and heard many good things from it and bought nice and quick, i actually just bought it a couple weeks ago, and as soon as i get some cash goin im goin start workin on it

sad to say i WOULD have, because im into tuning and stuff and lets face it maximas dont really scream street racing, and the didnt even cross my mind when i was looking for a car. but then my dad said he'd give me his max. and i was all for a free car, and then the situation with my friends accord made me realize how lucky i was to have a max, and not "lil honda"
