Dash Lights Are Out

Hey guys I'm wanting to fix the lights on the dash that are out. It's the ones around the climate control (manual) and some on the door for the window buttons. Anyone know how to do this? Any info would be great thanks!

Nismo thanks I'll be waiting for your post.

Snypa by any chance do you have the diagram of fuses? The box under my dash doesn't have the diagram on the door so I don't know which fuse is which! Doesn't have to be you. Just a general question. Does anyone have that diagram?

ok sorry for the delay, i had jury duty and was trying to catch up on my project im working on..

so here is my write up of my door light swap.. thats what im going to call it and sorry if the pictures are too big i didn't feel like reducing them

so lets start out with how to remove the door switch.. pretty much follow the pictures and you'll be good..

next will be removing the wires for the door switch. just fint the little tab and push it in and it will come apart..

after that you will now be able to open it up, turn it over and look at the backside.. there is no need to remove the 4 screws so don't even bother..

insert 2 flathead screw drivers that are as skiny as possible into one side, from there seperate and lift but be careful not to break the plastic

once this is done you will be able to see inside, remember to keep everything together and DON'T LOOSE ANYTHING or else you'll pay later lol

so once you have it apart you should be able access the led lights now

once you are able to do this you should start heating up the soldering iron and get everything together that you need.. so here is the checklist..

led's color is your choice from ebay or radioshack, soldering iron, flux that allows the solder to stick to the metel, wire cutters or scissors will do..

Remember keep in mind not to loose anything, mainly these!!!!!

those go to your door and window switch i lost one of them and lost the ability to have my window automaticly role down but i got that fixed so we're all good now..

so to the fun part removing and installing the led's

in order to do this you should just remove the first one highlighted in red

to do this take your doldering iron and place it on the backside of the led like so. keep a slight pulling preasure on the top of the led away from the soldering iron.. once the solder becomes hot enough the led should be loose enough to pull out.. remember only do that one for now!!

once the old one is out place the new one in. here is how to find out what side is positive or negative...

So how do you determine which end of a LED is which? If you're using a brand-new, factory-fresh LED, the easiest way is probably to look at the length of the leads (or "legs") on it: The positive one is usually manufactured to be longer (and the negative one is shorter). If you are using a reused LED which has already had the leads trimmed, or if it just happened to get mangled somehow and the legs are not in original factory condition, there is another way: The plastic on the LED is semi-transparent (it has to be, to let the light come through). If you look inside the LED through the plastic, you'll notice that the ends of the leads inside are not symmetrical; One will tend to jut out toward the other, while the other end will be basically straight. The jutting side is the negative one, while the straight side is the positive one. Just peer inside the LED and you should be able to see what I mean
now put the new led in exactly like i have it in the picture

once you are this far you should now check it to see it you have the led in the right way, here is an example how to do that

once it is in turn your lights on to see if the led wors if it does then you did it correctly and you can do the rest now but i would check them every so often to make sure they are all still working.. if they are put it all back togither but leave the black cover and check one more time just to make sure before you seal the deal if you know what i mean.. ha any way they should turn out like this in the end..
