tons of threads out there about this on search. I have kyb-agx struts and h&r springs and they are a good balance between comfort and performance with about 1.5" drop. I hear this is the closest you can get to stock ride. Try some of the other threads for general consensus.

I have the Tokico set up in my 98 MAX and love it. I think that they are the most cost effective brand. All 4 shocks and springs were like $400 from ebay. It gave me a 1.25 inch drop and amazing handling. By the way, I also recommend a front strut bar if you don't already have one.

K-Sports FTW. If you do decide to go with coilovers, you should probably invest in some axles. Just my .02

lots of stuff if you search, its even the stickies, about brands and how to actually go through with changing the springs and struts with pictures.

performancepeddler.com(discount maxima for 400 shipped to door) for 4 tokico 5 ways and progressive(cattman) springs is the best set up for street with a great drop and handling without being too low. If you want more comfort the tokico springs or h&r are the way to go.
Cost about 600 for parts if everything goes smooth. Then install your self or find someone to do it.
