Stereo problems

Was not sure whether to post this in this forum but here goes. My Sony stereo has a frequent problem where no sound is heard from any of the speakers. If I fiddle around with the right rear speaker's positive connection then all the speakers start giving sound. Why don't the other three speakers work if the right rear has a problem? The other three will work on their own if I disconnect the right rear speaker completely. I even checked the wiring from the stereo at the dashboard to make sure everything was connected properly.
What gives???

I'd say there's a short somewhere. If you can disconnect that one and have no problem with the other that would be my guess. The wire is touching another piece of metal somewhere. However it could also be the HU.

check the path of the wires to the rear speakers. you may have crimped or screwed into the wire along the way.
