yea man i went to one shop around me already even before i got it and asked them , he said around 1 hour labor = 100$

 

I had my flex replaced for $80. and they installed the o2 at the same time. shame they installed it in the wrong spot :grr:

 

That's how my buddy's bolts on his cat looked today

We're going to take it to a shop and just have them torch those bolts off and put new ones in and finish the rest ourselves unless they charge a ridiculous amount to put new bolts on the cat.

 

pshhhh... maaaan all he needs is a grinder.... first use a metal cutting disk.... cut the bolt down where the nut is at, then use a grinder disk to even the surface down to the flange and the bolt will slide out the other side. The bolt doesn't screw into the flange holes, just into the nut, so cut the nut, grind it down and you'll be fine in less then 10 minutes. You should only have the cut the bolts near the catalytic converter.

 

Sure, maybe for someone like you or me, but the average DIY'er around here doesn't have a grinder, let alone all the tools I listed previously. I was thinking more in basic terms.......

 

yeap =) really cant see how i can use the grinder under the car when i just have it on the small stands lmao .

 

Actually xkazik the car doesn't have to be lifted that much. A grinder is a small hand tool. You can purchase 1 at home depot. If you can lay on your back and slide under the car with a comfortable amount of space, you can position yourself with the grinder. It only takes a few seconds to cut each bolt off, then another minute or two to evenly grind it evenly.

 

Then you as well should appreciate the convience of owning a grinder... Having a grinder is a key tool every person should own. It came in handy on many of other projects. Definitely usueful when working with exhaust parts. The other power tool with the big knife will cut through pipes like butter.
