WHAT WENT WRONG?

I had my brother install a new radio in my car today, well it didnt have any sound so I decided to play with it myself so I think I connected the orange and black card together and it sparked, so now my none of the dash lights nor the odometer lights work and the window. What happened and how could I fix it?

Read your owner's manual.

Take off the little door by your left knee and read/check.

Open hood and look at/check fuses.....which are clearly labeled btw.

The fuse for the radio and dash lights will be marked under electrical parts and its a 7.5 fuse. A lot of the time when you dont disconnect the battery and do a HU swap, that will trip the fuse....

Not that I know anything about doing electrical work with the battery connected...

in his case, wouldn't have mattered since he connected what seems to be the illumiation and ground together. Would have shorted as soon as he reconnected the battery

Yup, sounds like you connected the illumination wire to the ground.

Check the fuses.

As for the radio not working its probably a ground if nothing works. Do you have an antenna adapter? Thats what sends the ground signal.

If it powers up but no sound it could be a few things. Newer HU's have a setting to shut off the internal amp which powers the speakers.

Do you have bose? If so you may need a converter.
