Just remove the airbox from the throttle body. Open up the butterfly valve and clean the inside repeatedly using throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush. Pretty simple and easy. Good luck

As long as you have an hour or two for the oil on the filter to soak in you may as well remove the throttle body and give it a thorough cleaning. Buy the Haynes manual at a Trak or Pep boys, also get the throttle body gasket (real cheap) and some Throttle Body cleaner. The manual has a clear, step-by-step w/ pictures section on removing and cleaning the throttle body. This is the best way to do it. Also, some people had problems when they cleaned the TB on the car. Make sure to adjust your throttle cables too - that made a world of difference on my car. THat is also covered in the manual. Good luck.

That's funny i just cleaned out mine today with Gumout TB cleaner but the thing is that it did do it's job the vacum line worked better then before and i did open the butterfly wide open and it seem to be a smoother ride but one question if you were on the driver side fender the left tube does not suck any air ? is this a prob but the right tube sucks pretty good (like my girl) lol j/k but yeah tell me your info guys

The tube you're referring to is part of the the pcv system. That one in particular is the outgoing side I believe. I hope you didn't spray anything into that. That goes to your crankcase.

I've seen throttle body cleaning covered before on this forum. Do a search on it.

when i did mine my throttle response became very responsive and i felt a big difference. i got throttle body cleaner from nissan. i took off the throttle body and cleaned both sides untill it looked new. i also cleaned out my upper intake manifold until it looked new also.

I may be wrong on this, but I'm fairly certain you sprayed it into the pcv system, thus putting a cleaner in with your engine oil. I would suspect it would probably be fine, but personally, I would change my oil so that I only had oil, and not oil and tb cleaner, flowing through my engine. Otherwise glad to hear your car is running good.

No, I don't believe it should have suction on it. However, it is part of the 'closed' system so it is part of the path for the crankcase fumes. Check your pcv valve too. It is mounted on the valve cover right beside the tb. Take it out and spray some cleaner in there and shake it a bit so that it freely moves. It sounds like your stuff is working properly.

question... after you clean the TB, how long before it gets dirty again? how often should we clean it?

Tip: If your spraying your tb while it on the car keep a hand on the straw. Trust me you don't want to shoot that into your intake manifold.

Its really pretty simple. Pull off all the intake stuff so you can get to the butterfly valve. Open up butterfly valve, hold onto straw and spray in cleaner. Take a tooth brush and scrub what you can get to. I'd suggest trying to wipe out as much cleaner as you can when your done. Put car back together and watch black smoke come out of your tail pipe.

No, but having someone hold the accelerator down is easier to open the throttle plate than holding it by hand.
