For the second time on the same curve my 99 died on me for a second and then started back up
Its a hard left uphill taken at around 85mph, both times it stalled I had about 1/4 tank of gas. Needless to say I now put at least 1/2 tank in before taking that hwy and it has not happened again.
Could this have caused any damage to the auto trans? Anyone else had this happen?

My dad had this happen to his car when taking a hill on less than 1/4 tank. The design of the tank prevents sloshing and when you take the long hills or turns the fuel doesnt get to the pump. It can happen to any car cuz he doesnt have a maxima.

Why would you suspect damage to the trans?
As said above, long sweepers will affect fuel flow (given it's low enough) and the readings of the fuel gauge.
