You could splice in the harness of the new corner light. Then you would be able to go back and forth (say you want to revert back to stock or something).

You don't have to do any splicing, assuming the LED bulb fits the lights and works.

Just use the harness that is on their stock and switch it with the newer one. It will work.

Is that what you wanted to hear? I may not fully understand your problem.

If I remember right the harness is different from 95-96 and 97-99..which is why I mention splicing. The 95-96 have a dual filament bulb because they have functional corner lamps while the 97-99 don't.

They should all be the same. They both use the same bulb (1157) and everything. I've never heard of the connector being different. If they are different, I'm sure somebody has some spare '95 corner light harnesses you could buy for next to nothing and just use the plugs off of them. You use them to replace the '97 ones on the harness for your new corner lights, that way you can put your stock ones back on any time you want.

As far as I knew they should have been the same connectors even though

Now that I think about it you should just be able to do that. Not sure what I was thinking. Just take the LED bulb and stick it in the socket of your '95 harness and plug that into the '97 corner light.

Couldn't of been said any better. That was my exact idea. It should work.

The 95-96 have a 3 wire hook up. The 97-99 have a 2 wire. They both use the same 1157 dual filament bulb.

As others have said if the LED's are in a 1157 they will drop in. If you dont feel comfortable doing electrical work have someone else do it for you.

IMO i think you should of done that with a 97-99 corner.

The 95-96 corners have too many lines in it.

It will definitely look better with the AE headlights. Someone was selling a pair; http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...573529-ae.html

Great website and lots of good DIY info.

My daughter has a '97 Maxima. I drive a '95. My clearnance ("turning") lights work. Hers, I noticed last night, do not. I assumed the bulbs were bad so I replaced them today with the bulb called for in the manual (1157 - 28/7 W). Her clearance/turning lights still do not function. The marker light filament burns fine when the parking/head lamps are activated, but when you activate the turn signal, the clearnace filament does not light.

I do not see a fuse for it in the under/hood box near the battery.

Is it a model issue a la some have it, others do not? The housing is identical to my '95 so I assumed it would function the same.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

97-99 only have clearance and NO TURNING light. someone said it before me too. 95-96 have 3 wires and the 97-99 only have 2 wires. everything else is the same. the harness is even the same.

OK, then I guess the question is, how does make the turning lights functional, if the harness is the same? Or can you even do it?
