Anyone Have One? Megan Racing NA Type Catback

I am this close to clicking "Buy It".

But first, can someone post a photo or two of this on your car?

How do you like it?

I have one, I love it, sounds great in my opinion. Not too loud, but just enough of a growl, it also has a baffle that you can take out if you want to sound like a rice brain. I would highly recommend it, I loved it so much I bought one for my 00SE, it has dual tip but otherwise is almost identical. I think I found it on ebay for a little cheaper than the one from Megan. I don't think I can post photos, but pm me and I'll email you some photos tonight. I could send you a clip so you can hear it.

Here, you go I had this exhaust, and it sounds incredible but if you have a Y-Pipe some people might find it a little loud, I also kept the silencer in most the time, because Loud + Shiny exhaust = Cops Hassling you...

Best bang for your buck. Fits decently and has a deep tone. I do find the 4 inch flattened part of the pipe to be a little wierd (Most likely restricts some exhaust flow) but I haven't regretted my purchase.

To supplement the OP's questions, can the intermediate section bolt on to a stock muffler without much/any modification? This is one of the more affordable cat-backs out there (especially in stainless), but I really don't like the coffee can look...

I've gotta disagree on this. One of the reasons I've been so drawn to this system is the fact that the muffler is a nice diameter and the tip is big enough to be bad but small enough to be tasteful.

...and look how the tip diameter perfectly matches the bumper notch.

That is totally sweet.

I just ordered mine BTW.

Yes, that's deffinetly true, some people can deal with it, but I was one of those people that couldn't get out of my car after driving it for 5 minutes or less with a headache...which is why I got a Full Custom Magnaflow exhaust all the way back, which sounds gorgeous...

Yes, that is one of the reasons why I liked the size of it, It's not bad looking, that's an older picture, make sure you line it up into the bumper notch higher than in my picture and it looks even better, nice and flush!!

So then how loud is it actually? I know all mine is stock, but mine is completely disconnected from the muffler. Long story (sat outside all its life. St. Louis salt in the winter. blah blah blah) Would it be louder than no muffler at all?

Would it not then cease to be a muffler? An amplifier perhaps?

I suppose some exhausts do just that..

I don't have one of these catbacks, but my friend does. I love the sound of his car but if you really want the performance upgrade, a warpspeed y is the way to go. I have a y pipe and a louder muffler my car sounds perfect and I can dust my friends but if it's about sound only the catback might be better. (don't combine a catback and y pipe unless its all one system.) And another thing it looks like a big can you can turn sideways and eat rice out of. other than that it's pretty cool.

And i'm sure your aware of this if you've been reading the forums but i've heard stories of people downshifting with the silencer in and it just shoots out like a bullet lol which sounds pretty sweet. probably nothin to worry about but i'd still check it out.

I had this cat-back on my old 98 max with a y-pipe and I thought it was way too loud. It did sound nice & aggressive however. I think the best exhaust I ever heard from a 4th gen would def be a cattman. To me a cattman exhaust sounds similar to a g35 exhaust. A friend of mine simple bought a cattman muffler ($300) and had a muffler shop custom make a b-pipe for around $130 and weld the 2 together. That exhaust sounded perfect to me. Just do it right the first time around and go with cattman. Their expensive for a reason and you do get what you pay for. Just my .02 cents.

Hey, Baker and Venom...

Did you guys install your systems yourselves?

If so, how was it? Everything fit/hang proper?

Mine should be here about this time next week.

I didnt install my system myself, because I got my Y-Pipe professionally installed, because I ran into fitment issues, so I didnt want to take my exhaust apart just to put it back together, so I got a exhaust shop to do all my work, but everything on the megan fit and hung perfectly, you may just want to mess with the hanger's so that it's centered in the bumper "notch/cutout"

I just measured my fist. It's ~4.5" at it's widest. The tip on this exhaust is 4.5".

A folgers can is actually 6.375" in diameter.

I perfectly agree with you on that, as you could see on my car, it's not the ricer "can" look, it was my first exhaust and I loved it, I just thought it was too loud for my taste, since I had a Y-Pipe.

I hope to get mine all pinned up this weekend too.

I've taken it out of the box, loose assembled it and just looked at about six times now.

I was wondering if there are any performance exhausts that can use the stock hanger locations? I am kinda new to the forum. My first mod I want for my Max is a different exhaust. I have been looking around, but I am still looking for the right fit for my car.

Any suggestions please fill in your 2 cents.
