No such thing as a BCM on a maxima??
No such thing as a BCM on a maxima??
So I've been having some electrical issues in my 97 5spd SE that have rendered it undriveable (the passenger window is stuck down and i don't trust it not to rain) and i searched my problem and from other threads it sounds exactly like a bad bcm, so i took my dash apart today and checked all the harnesses going into the bcm and they seemed okay so i called the local dealership looking for a new bcm to replace the bad one and the told my that there is no body control module on the maxima, they told me that it sounded like the "land control unit" which was apparently a 1000 dollar part, being as i now have no way of getting to and from school i would really like to clear this issue up quickly but if i can't get the part i can't clear it up, any insight into my problem?
couldnt you put a 12v to the window switch and get the window up? Sure it isnt a window switch or window regulator problem? It seems that the only thing that would be related with the BCM is the door switch.
yeah it could easily be a motor/regulator/switch problem. You could test the switch and motor, and fix. Or in the meantime you could see if you can access the bolts holding the window the the regulator and undo them and slide the window up with your hands manually and tape it up or put something under it to hold it up for the time being...just be careful not to drop or break the window.
the motor is fine, it was up and i thought it might be jammed and so i tried rolling it down with my remote keys and it worked so its something in the switch, but its all the switches, the ones on the driver door and the other doors, im gona try the 12v
the BCM is indeed a real part. those idiots probably just coined some lame name for themselves. the BCM is a 1000 dollar part and I think your best bet, if it is indeed the BCM, is to look for online junkyards b/c I hardly ever see them in the classifieds (IMO I got mine for 30 bucks from a member on here). Just keep looking and good luck.
Actually you should take your fuse panel cover from the fuse box under your hood and take it to the dealer. It clearly shows a 7.5A fuse for a BCM. I believe the BCM is located in the trunk behind the carpet liner. If you disconnect one of the wires, I believe the grey one, it stops you doors from opening and closing with the remote control.
The BCM is located beneath the radio, right beneath the TCM(if you're auto). Its a black box, hard to miss once you get into that area. Two 10mm bolts hold it in on either side, and can be swapped out in about 10 minutes at the most.
I'm a frikin retard, leave it to me to way over complicate a problem, haha thanks guys for all the help. lol i feel so stupid, but problem fixed. And i'm assuming that the turn signals weren't working because when tesested them i had alot of stuff unpluged (including the hazard switch) so thats why they weren't working. Lol i feel sooo stuped, thanks joe!
