Lease is almost up...what to do

Well, I'm in the six month window of my lease. Just recieved a package from Nissan waving fees, etc to lease another Nissan. I am going to check out the Altima but wouldn't mind another Maxima. Maybe go 5sp. this time, stock HID's, Navigation, etc. Or do I buy my current 4th. gen and put on a supercharger? Humm. Any word on an R-Type or something like that?
Will a 4th gen rsb fit the 5th gen? I know my strut tower will. I may have some items for sale if I do trade up.

Hmm...

If I were you I would by a 5spd. 4th gen and supercharge it. A 1999 car is not very old, and I personally like the 4th gen shape better than the new ones. 5spd for a change and supercharge it. You will pull up to all sorts of cars and smoke them off the line (including most new Maxima).

What do you think is faster? Looks better? Handles better?
1999 Maxima 5spd Supercharged
or
2002 Maxima 6spd?
I'm going with the 1999...
Personal preference.

I say you go with a 1994 SE 5 speed. So you can get power AND looks. 4th gens are fugly!

OK, if 4th gens are ugly, where do you rank 5th gens? Personally, I just can't get used to the front end of a 5th gen, but HIDs, and a 6 speed mated to a VQ 3.5, are very very very compelling reasons for me to overlook its other aspects

obviously, a 2k2 6 speed will cost you a LOT more then a 99 SE 5spd.. For the money saved, you can do some mods, such as a supercharger and have a beast right there. If you question the looks of the 5th gen cars, go for the 4th gen but get everything in this one that you would like, 5spd, colors you want, leather etc..
I like the 5th gens, I got used to them

Hehe... I couldn't say it better myself, but have you driven the VQ? Sweet engine. Add .5 litters and a 6 speed and you've got magic.

Say Joe_R Whats your buy out on your current 4th gen? Personally I don't care for leases so I'd stay away from that idea. It really depends on what kind of person you are. Do you have to have the latest and greatest? If so lease's are a valid option but very spendy. I'd rather own the car I drive.

As to buy your current car or pick up a slightly used 5 speed. It depends on what your cars worth and the buy out. Personally I'd rather drive a 5 speed. Ok fine a 6 speed, but that's too rich for my blood.

Choosing what car I drive is not controled by how fast it is per say. If you want a fast car get a Camaro IMO. I say this because when you put a SC on a car you give up the warranty and a good chunk of reliability. To me I would much rather drive a brand new car that is completly stock rather then a tricked out 3 year old car. I allready had a SC 98 I30 so I am just speaking from my personal experience. A year ago I probably would have agreed with you.

As for which would be quicker? Tuff to say but ehres waht I think, if you have just a SC on the 99 VS a 02 6spd, I would say the 02 would win. The 99's clutch would be slipping all over the place . You would need a ACT Clutch and a SC to keep up with a 6spd. If you add a Y-Pipe,ACT and SC then you would beat a 02 max for sure.

You can get the SC installed by the dealer and keep your warranty though. Most offer this for around 3800 or so.

Go for the 2k2 it looks nice it is quick and eventually if you mod it even with a y pipe or whatever your already faster then most 4th gens.

I've never heard that one before. The only time that option was available to my knowledge was with the SMX package, and that no longer exists. BTW maybe a select few dealerships will install the SC but I can't see how the car would still be warrantied by "nissan", maybe the dealership who install's it will warranty it..?

It's my daily driver so reliability is important. I think the buyout is around $17k. KBB says $16,190 for a trade right now and I still have time left. If I loose too much, I'm dupming it. But if I keep it, I want a SC and level 10 job.
The 5th gens, well, I'm getting used to them. I don't think they look all that bad. At least not as bad as I though when they first came out.
