My 4th gen hesitates to rip it. why? (automatic)

I have a 4th gen se stock.
sometimes when i decide i want to go deep on the gas, i have to wait about 1 to 1/2 secs(exaggeration, hesitates before going to 2nd ) before i feel the car move forward with some speed.

is that normal for an automatic or my car's engine is broke?

im a noob btw.

You mean it takes about a half second for it to downshift and go? For a stock tired auto, that's about right.

I'd have to drive it myself to really know, but that doesn't sound bad to me. On my old car, the reaction time was sometimes so slow that I could punch it and let off real quick, and it would never even downshift.

Live with it, really. Without some work done, it's just going to be like that. You can get near-instant shifts, but they'll be more harsh.

Oh god, so many things about the 4AT just plain pissed me off. Say, going WOT then having to back off, then going WOT again in quick succession...3 or 4 seconds while the TCM decided what to do. Eventually, it got to be too much hassle, so went 5MT. Best mod I've ever done.

Getting a ground kit helps making down and upshifts a little more crisp and responsive as far as them "kicking in", one thing I noticed when I put mine on. Another thing you could do is a WOT drop resistor switch to receive full line pressure when your TB is fully open. You could just unplug your drop resistor and run with it like that, but I wouldn't suggest it, can't be healthy for mounts/bushings/TC, and it makes city driving much too jaunty.

The reason i asked the question in the first place is i have an 93 accord with an engine old as time that when i want to go, it goes........ to 60 right away without delay; so i was kinda wondering if the max had some sort of engine problem.

o well, was going for engine swap when it hits 200k km anyway.

I doubt it's your engine, it is your tired automatic tranny. Mine did the same thing before I installed the ground kit. And we have the same transmission with the same amount of miles. Depending on when you gun it, try to manu-shift it with the gear shifter down into the gear you want to go in as well, mine tends to drop down faster that way rather than letting the TCM/ECU handle it.
