Lugnut threading problem
Lugnut threading problem
Over the past 5 years I've had to replace my wheel studs 5 differnt times, I came to the conclusion that it's not human error, but the threading of the lug nuts i'm using.
Does anyone have any suggestions on some new Lug Nuts, or can anyone atleast give me the threading size of our wheel studs (year: 97-99)

so it took you 5 different sets of wheel studs to figure out that you were forcing stripped lug nuts onto them?
you can get new lug nuts at rockauto.com. And obviously if your studs are not OEM thread pitch they will not work together.

Seriously, if you replaced a wheel stud due to it being stripped out why would you not use a new lugnut with the new stud as well?
I guess what I typed was kind of confusing.
When I replaced the stud, I meant I replaced the Wheel stud, and when I replaced the wheel stud, of course I had the common sense to use new lug nuts; however, the new lugnuts I ordered were the same kind that came with my rims, that's why I believe that it is the lug nuts giving me the problem, not human-error.
My remaining question still hasn't had a reply.
What is the thread size of the lug nut I need for our gen maxima (97-99)???

Ah, got ya. Are the lugnuts open ended style?
My wife had some of those and they were a pain in the ****. They kept getting rusted onto the studs and when I would try to remove them they would get rounded off.
If you dont remember what size lug nuts to get after the set you bought in the past, they 12x1.25
on my max, when you go around 80-90, they loosen, i been on the track a lot, and they always get loose. its horrible. i touch the barkes at 90 to slow down, and the pedal jumps like crazy. my front lugs get loosend up. i just bought new rims and new lug nuts, and so far so good. till my tranny blew.
i use motegi splie drive lug nuts. Good lug nuts, decent price. Good pricing here, i ordered a set of wheel locks for really cheap. Its actually a legit site believe it or not. I would opt for hte mcguard lug nuts. Its good quality lug nuts and its not that expensive for a set of 20.
