I have checked the brakes and everything appears fine, and my hand brake is down (haven't used it in a while), but when I got back from a trip about a week ago I noticed that the brake light indicator was lit up on my dash. Not sure what the problem is....Any ideas? Also, sometimes when I take off I have to push the accelerator harder than normal and the car will "jump" off like I was racing. I know this is probably from pushing harder on the accelerator but otherwise it won't move....

low fluid indicator which means you have a leak or little pad life remaining.

or check the switch

pistons might be sticking since you said you have to push the accelerator harder and it jerks, other than that check fluid and pads.
