If the MAF is disconnected I believe the car will not work and If you can't pass the 2500 rpm's the MAF Is bad. Check the connections and If you can wiggle the wires that are connected to the MAF and they are cutting the motor off and on then the wiring Is cracked, therfore the MAF is running on and off due to the damaged connections. The possibilty of having the wires and the MAF bad at the sametime can happen. Test it again and find out exactly whats the main problem.

hmmm, that does happen when I wiggle the wires around...even sometimes when I have the car running and slam the hood it dies.

If you have all of the stuff that I just listed here that means you have a bad MAF and the wires because they are flucuating the steady flow of the MAF and the cars Idle.

If you can please explain all off your problems pacifically,If you have had your tune-ups done and your coil packs are ok and so on. I will lean towards the MAF also being the problem starting up when the car Is hot.
