So last week I was on the way to get my girlfriend for a movie, when I had the heat on, and all of a sudden a smell started coming through the vents that smelled like burning rubber. When I was at the light I saw smoke coming from under my hood so I pulled over, when I popped the hood there was smoke coming from behind my engine. Funny thing was, it would stop but when I turned the heat or the AC on it would start again, also when I tried to accelerate it started hesitating a little bit(Not since tho,) so I decided to wait it out, I thought maybe some plastic could of got stuck under the car and touched something that was hot. But I was crusing today and once again the smell came through the vents when I had the heat on, and I can smell it when I get out of the car, no smoke tho...any Ideas of what it could be??? Could it be the hot water tube??? I think I'ma take it to my mechaninc on Friday, I hope it's nothing serious...(The car hasn't been overheating or anything...) also it seems like I can also smell it when I just let the car sit idle. But it's been running great... IDK

 

did u check underneath ur car at all? just to c theres nothing clnging on to ur muffler or the area arnd it. or ur splash shield somehow got caught to it i dnont know for sure but checking would be relieveing. good lcuk

 

I have the same problem with my max, I have no idea what it is. but I seen the smoke from the back of the engine, and smell the burning rubber smell. If you figure it out please, do let me know.

Also the other day I was in work, and I had to heat a shaft that had grease on it, well it smelled the exact same. So I was thinking maybe some kind of boot broke under the car and just threw some grease on the manifold or something....

 

a burning smell from using the AC/heat is usually a belt that is rubbing against something.

have your belts checked - its a pretty easy and painless process and it should be clear where it is touching, because there will be black residue in the area.

 

^^^U know what I think THATS IT!!! Cause my belt has been squeeking...
