Engine/Motor Mounts

Probably a n00b question, but how many motor mounts do we have?...4?...one set in the front (left and right) and one set in the rear (left and right)?...do we have a transmission mount also?...

Im guessing Energy Ssuspension only sells them in a set of two but doesnt disclose how many we actually need...

Taken from Energy Suspension Website:

1995-03 Motor Mount Replacements (two torque mount positions only) 7.1114 (57)

We have 3 motor mounts, one trans mount. Timing cover, trans, and front and back of the block.

The ES inserts are for the two lower mounts on the crossmember; the ones that take the brunt of the twisting force on the powertrain.

Wonder which need to be replaced most often? I think mine needs the trans and timing mounts replaced. I get the shake when taking off from a stop and when I accel hard and the engine shakes during each shift.

The front and rear mount inserts on the cross member are the ones that typically go bad and need to be replaced, since like pmohr said, those take most of the beating. The Energy Suspension set is pretty much all you need, unless your car has other mount issues. Remember, these are just motor mount inserts, so you will need to find a way to press out the old inserts and press in the new ones. You reuse the motor mount brackets that bolt to the cross member.

On the 02+ 3.5 Liter Maximas/Altimas, we see the Passenger side (crnak pulley side) mount go bad WELL before the two cross-member mounts go. But nonetheless, 95-01 front/rear mounts go bad often.....

What picture?

And 2 month old thread FTL

The metal frames are the remnants of the stock motor mounts, you press/burn out the rubber internals and press in the new ES mounts.

yah, I don't have that ability. Not a lot of shops around here that press Motor mounts out of the mount. >_>

And 2month old thread or making a new topic? Which do you prefer?

Searching, personally

Anywhere you can find that has a press should be able to do it without a problem, really. Failing that, you could just torch the rubber out, if you're not worried about polluting the environment, heh.
