i hear popping sound coming from rear suspension. and when i turn corner back end is unstable. bounces around dangerous like. are there bushings on top of struts back there that can be replaced? sounds like struts to me. looked under car and no bushings are missing underneath.

Looking through posts for the rear suspension. Have about the same exact problem. Happened last night pulling in the driveway heard a thump type noise. Today, rear-right sags down much more than the rest of the car and bounces all over the place.
Sounds like I will have to replace the rear end suspension next weekend when I can get some time. I don't really know too much about the suspension so I know I will have to buy a strut kit? What else will I need to get the job done and the Max back in shape? Thanks

The struts wouldn't really make the rear end sag unless they seized up when compressed. They of course would cause the bounciness, though.

I have that thump noise as well, when going over bumps slow 5-30mph. Noise still there at higher speeds, just less noticable due to wind and road noise. I replaced rear shocks but noise still there. I need to figure this out, it's driving me crazy...

Looked underneath today finally. The part of the strut that holds up the coil (not sure what that is called?) has basically rusted away so much that it just gave out resulting in the coil pretty much coming down to rest on the frame with no support. That would explain why there is still some bounce and why the right rear sits a good two inches lower than the left. It's almost amusing to look at. Stupid Nissan's and their $hitty metal quality
