brake issue question

just replaced the front pads but during the process, the passenger side had a little issue. one of the 2 lock pins for the support bracket for the caliper completely seized or something. i tried spraying wd40, tapping it w/ a hammer, and tried to twist it w/ a pair of pliers to loosen it but all failed. the lock pin was completely extended out too.

i kinda forced the rest of the assembly back together and the caliper isn't sitting perfectly flat against the support body. is this ok or should i just get a whole new set of calipers?

also, after test driving around the block, the brakes hardly bit. pumped the brake pedal a bunch and still didn't bite hard enough. the car kinda just kept rolling even when i floored the brake pedal. could it be b/c of the lock pin or is this normal and just needs more time?

What do you mean by 'lock pins'? Do you mean the bolts that secure the torque member, or the slide pins that hold the caliper in place?

sorry, i shouldn't of called them lock pins. i used another reference for time sake.
its the slide pins thats in the torque member (1 of them does not move), NOT the slide pin bolts.
both of the pins should slide up and down correct?

i somehow got the new pads on the driver side w/o any clearance issues but the passenger BARELY fitted b/c of the at one pin

If the issue is a seized slide pin, you should have searched, this is a HUGE problem with our max's.

Take the Torque member off, take it to a shop and have them heat and remove it, buff it up to remove the rust, etc, and put a ****load of Caliper lube (available at any parts store, I reccomend SIL-GLIDE) on the pin, reinstall and make sure it slides nice and free.

As for you having issues because of this pin when it comes to installing the pads, you shouldn've. The only problem you could've run into was putting the caliper assembly on the rotor. The pin shouldn't effect installation of the pads, if you had issues with installation then you are mistaken on the part that you're having an issue with.

I've changed my brake pads, and I've never had any kind of problem doing so. But I understand what your saying, mine slides easily, prolly because I take perfect care of everything on my car.

As far as fixing it, do what TunerMaxima3000 said, it sounds like like a perfect idea. Once you get it fixed, wait a couple weeks, and check out to see if you have some abnormal wear on your brake pads, or if that "pin" is still sticking, or stuck, if you feel in any way that it might stick, then just re-lube it.

Hope you fix it.
