was just wondering if this was worth trying or if even possible I did it to both of my old contours and got good gains.

also if anyone has done this do you happen to have dynos?

worthless info: on contours its dyno proven to loose horsepower by removing the bends in our y-pipe which is why I'm wondering if the stock y-pipe with a new flange thats not crushed would be worth it. also supposedly having a hollow precat increases scanvenging as an expansion chamber or something which us supposedly the same as a collector.

It sounds like you have quite a bit of technical knowledge which is good. But a Y pipe gets rid of the precats altogether and they aren't very expensive. I got great gains from my Y pipe... .41 in the 1/4 and a full 4 mph in the traps.

cause right now I can't afford the y also was wondering the hp per $$ between the to I'll most likely try it anyway and poat some results.

thanks for your help.

think about it this way... if you destroy your stock y-pipe (they cost about $1000 from a dealer I think) then what if you have to replace it when you sell your car? you can buy a y-pipe for $200 ??

good point but have you ever checked out a y-pipe before you bought your car you would most likely never notice

plus florida doesn't have emmisions.

You will not be able to reinstall the factory precats, unlike most of the domestic precats which look like a bullet shaped cylinder and can simply be cut off and replaced the Nissan precats are made of what looks like cast iron and are extremely difficult to remove from the stock Y pipe asembly.
Best solution is put your stock Y pipe in a box and reinstall it when you sell your car. That is what I did with mine and the stock converter, airbox etc.
