I noticed that the fsm says "do not use a synthetic resinous fuel filter"
Hmmm - does anyone know what a synthetic resinous fuel filter is ??
How can I tell if my repacement is or isn't ??

Lots of filters as well as gasket materials are made from synthetic resins.

 

I looked over the filter i've had sitting around awhile (Purolator fuel filter)
and it has a metal main body ,but the top "cap" is plastic so i'm reluctant
to install it because of the warning in the service manual (no synthetic
resinous filters)

 

Get on the Purolator website an find out what the filter element is made of.
