As far as the wheel being tucked, i personally dont like that look. I prefer for the tire to be completely tucked with the rim as close the the fender as possible. And by the way, what's wheel gap? lol

More Pics of my car here: http://forums.maxima.org/members-rid...l1-01-i30.html

The sides are painted now. I'll try to get more pictures, but it's been raining non stop so the car will be dirty.
Im not going to lie, the drop does look insanely good, but how can you drive your car like that? Even with rolled fenders doesnt the lip of the wheel or edge of the tire touch being as close as it is? Im no where near as low as you and I already have to watch everywhere I go, dips, driveways, speed bumps etc.
To each their own, but I personally I couldnt justify going through axles continously just for the aesthic appeal.

thats pretty low. my fourth gen has about 2 inches of ground clearance by the control arms.

I have a stage 1 ltb and im slammed. i was going to take it off but I realized that it was the only thing protecting the oil pan and tranny. Getting into driveways isnt too bad. You just have to go on 3 wheels

And I guarantee your car would not survive the roads up here. One of the city's main thoroughfares had frost heaves so bad this winter they had to put up "Rough Road" signs. It was ridiculous.
Where theres a will there's a way, I will make it up and driveway If I have to. It just wont be simple. I should make a tutorial video on how to drive slammed. I snapped some funny pics of me trying to get into a few places. I'll post them either tonight or tomorrow when I get the camera back from my girl (Shes mad cause we got into a fight yesterday )

I love the roads down here. I couldnt do it anywhere else. They arent the best everywhere I go, but I pretty much know every bump, dip, manhole, and pothole now. My butt puckers when I see a "road work ahead" sign though.

in for pics with teh stock wheels
For a wheel with those specs, I'd probably go with a 215 or a 225 if your gonna go low.

I honestly dont rub the fenders unless theres a dip in the road. Eventually I will go down to a 235/35 in the rear and that should eliminate most if not all rubbing.

And the axles are just something I tolerate. lol. People have different tollerance levels and mine just happens to be high in regards to axles. lol. It doesnt take me more than an hour to replace axles from start to finish now with nothing but hand tools. practice makes perfect.

would 215 even be right on an eight inch wide wheel? id kinda like to keep 245/40 tires. if im not going to be able to go low you think the tiens would do? and the wheels are not staggered btw

I'm running a 215 on an 8.5" wide wheel up front. The perfect size for my ride height. The only problem I see with this is traction when my engine is done. but hey, I dont go to the track every weekend. But I have 245s in the garage for that.

97 Maxima Coilovers

Im debating on a set of coilovers. Im not looking to drop more than 2" overall. I currently have Sprint springs on Kyb AGX and Im tired of a crappy ride. I know that going with coilovers I won't have a great ride either but I like the ability to raise the height during the winter. I only really use the car on the weekends. What do you guys recommend for coilovers?

I know most are saying GC with Koni yellows, I had a bad experience with Koni yellows because when I had them (years ago) they were inserts in the front and the bolt would always come loose and make all sorts of horrible noise while driving. I would have to reach in the wheel well to tighten the bolt which became so annoying. Are the Koni for the 4th gen still inserts in the front?

Still inserts. Did you use locktite on that bolt?

Nah I didn't the bolt was probably coming loose by a bad install on my part. So I cant even use the Koni yellows without buying stock struts for the fronts then. Im on KYB AGX now.

Most coilovers will ride harsher in the winter due to the thickened oil inside. That's probably why so many get blown too. I loved my Koni yellow's in summer, but in winter they were unforgiving. My Progress setup saw winter only once and same result.

Who makes BC? Not familiar with those, are they available for 4th gen? . Most people are saying GC konis Yellows or Teins.

I don't mind spending the money as long as they are reliable and I also don't want to deal with changing my setup in the winter like people are saying. What's the deal with that anyway? They should be made for all weather.

Im already taking off my 19" rims in the winter IMO changing the suspension too is nuts.. Then you'll need an alignment everytime as well. I definitely don't wanna deal with that.

If shocks are blowing due to winter weather these companies need to remake their shocks to handle winter weather as well. I still want to do coilovers and my main reason is to raise the height in the winter.

I have the firestone lifetime alignment for my car. Cost me 160 and as long as I own my car alignment is free. I like it

Ground Controls are not true coil overs. I don't know what the benefit of having true coilovers such as D2, Teins, Ksprt etc.. Over Ground Controls. I'm still learning about these myself.

The spring rates on CO are paired up for the damper settings on the struts being used.

My rears look just fine, but it is true that the Teins will not give you an extremly slammed looked. Since they only allow height adjustment going extrmely low would case camber issues which cannot be adjusted with them.

I guess If I wanted to go the GC/koni route I would have to buy stock front struts. I just hate that front Konis are inserts... Im looking for the most comfortable ride basically, not how low I can drop the ride. Im not looking to lower than 2.5 inches the most.

So Jsutter has a "how to" on the GC/koni install? I need to check that out.
