i went to get my car checked today and they told me that i need to get my alternator belt and my water pump belt replaced, well they wanted to charge me 168.00 dollars...and i thought that was kinda expensive so i didn't get it done, has anyone replaced these two belts??.....if so, how much did it cost??.....thanks

There is no waterpump belt...

2 belts.. alternator/AC and also powersteering

pretty easy to do... remove dust shield on passengerside wheel well that you should remove during an oil change and then you just have to loosen the tensioners of both belts (both separate and require long extensions)... not too hard if you go get a manual.

Inspect your belts first.. you may not need them...

i got both belts for around 17 bucks and got them installed for 30...total cost of 47 bucks. they did a good job too...it was a local japanese repair shop. i only had 30K miles but they were squeaking and 47 wasnt too much to ask to not have to worry about them for another 60K

 

i forgot how much i payed for the belt but i went to like a fat joe. gas station and they charged me i think 75 just for labor.
