Nissan Maxima 97 GXE AT 167K miles
Light came on 4 days before...til now

Should I ignore it ?? "everything is OK in car"

Don't want to go throught the hassle of ECU and thingies...Afraid from messing something there maybe

Thanks

If the light is on the car isn't ok ...just pull the code then if it's something that can be ignored....or put off then whatever you want to do.

Really ???? You have to ask this?

Tell ya what, it's obvious you don't care about your car, so let it go. Maybe it'll leave you stranded someplace and then you'll look into fixing it.

Exactly, it could be something failing or about to fail. And although everything is okay now, something could CATASTROPHICALLY fail later on

You can't be serious. This...no words, really. All I can say is , and that's a severe understatement.

Let me clue you in on something, since you obviously DIDN'T read the stickies, ever:
Quote: If you post about your CEL coming on before you have checked for the codes, it will get locked. Please do not ask why it may have come on without the codes. YOU NEED A LINK TO THE POST THAT DISCUSSES YOUR PROBLEM TO DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU DID READ THE STICKY.

Mine is always on but the code gives the 02 sensor (of course). Its not worth the trouble now, plus it doesn't seem to affect anything. I'm getting 25+ mpg

the light will bust thru the plastic cover and punch you in the nose

like others said, get it checked and you can check it via the stickies or take it to autozone for a free diagnostic check

A new member he may be, but people need some way to learn that the stickies are there for a ****ing reason.

Haha I probably would ask the same thing, but I came here to learn from mechanics and so. Now that I am a enlightened man, I will ask only moderately dumb questions.

But still.... silly question as that was we need to enlighten the dude and tell him to NEVER not check whats wrong when the CHECK ENGINE light comes ON
