Removing hood and then putting it back...

Has anyone ever removed a hood and then replaced it back perfect? Most hoods I see that are taken off and then put back are always mis-aligned by a few hairs... Is there a secret to removing a hood and putting it back perfectly?

My hood has some hail dings so Im thinking about getting a new hood from this parts car... but don't want to have a nasty gap on either side after putting it on.

any guidance is appreciated.

well the easiest way is, have 2 more people help you, 2 of you can carry the hood over and place it in position and than the other can put in the bolts, once the bolts are in the bolts usually leave an imprint of the where the washer had been settled previously, try to place the bolt back in and cover up the place as before, if u dont get wat i said let me know and ill expain more

If you take your time and actually adjust the hood, it'll look fine

Yes, the secret is actually doing the job properly. Most people don't.

I have taken my hood off myself and it was hard. When I put it back on I gently snugged the bolts and as I lowered the hood I moved it into position and adjusted the gap myself by shifting the hood by either right or left until it was even between the fender and hood on both sides. Then I opened the hood and tighten the bolts.

Honestly, when I removed my hood, and put it back on, i just put the bolts back in. It lined up perfectly. There were really no "slide" holes to adjust the hood that i could find.

its not rocket science, replace the bolts, align it properly, tighten bolts. Theres not much room to move it one way or the other, its almost center so you might need to move it over just a hair. GL

If i can remember right i had no problem at all removing and replacing my hood. I drilled two holes on each side then just made sure to line em up again. then attached all the bolts and she fit perfectly back in
