HELP! MAF problems! I think?
K here's the deal I replaced my maf sensor becouse like an idiot I took the side part with phillips off of it and car would not run at all. Replaced with junk yard maf cleaned it up put it in almost the same problem but now when driving it will cut out like someone does not know how to drive a stick. So took it to a shop had them run test said maf again so I said ok replace it and like most people now of days I don't have 300 dollars for a new one so got junk yard one again. Same f@#*en problem willstart up fine in the mornig drive fine to work after work on my way home cuts out stolls and when I push the gas nothen just bogs down no acceleration its driving me nuts I need to know if I just need to save the money and buy new one or what the deal is. Or if I can buy one from someone on here that I know won't be jacked up one that dosent sit on a shelf collecting dust or gets kicked around. Thanks guys!

I am getting the same damn problem. I thought it was my TPS FOR SURE, but I just replaced it and it still occurs, however...not nearly as frequently. Its very intermittent. I will be cruising, very light throttle, between 5% and 10% and it will feel as if the clutch is being pressed in and then dumped suddenly. Sometimes it jolts very hard, and sometimes its very faint, it varies. It seems like it usually happens within a few miles of leaving my hosue and then once the motor is fully warmed up it doesn't happen anymore.
where are the MAF harnesses becoming damaged? I replaced my MAF with a used one as well not too long ago. I hate this damn sensor.
Mine doesnt get so bad that it feels like the car is going to stall, I'm wondering how bad it is actually going to get. It is just a random jolty thing that makes you say "wtf". Otherwise the car drives normal.
New aftermarket MAFs are 210.00 on Rock Auto btw "remanufactured".

i would love to have that as an option for me, but mine is not even a year old. maybe a possibility for the OP. when mine was going bad it was very hard to start the car when it was cold. and it did stall out, and stumble all over the place until it warmed up.

That would have no bearing on any other MAFs, unless it somehow damaged the harness, which can no longer properly read the MAF.
Again, I'd check the harness out before doing anything more.
Your other junkyard ones most likely work just fine. If you want a known good MAF, check Teaner's thread in the classifieds. ~$50 shipped, IIRC.

The ECTS can make your car do some pretty crazy stuff. Here is a video of when mine was going bad. The car would die unless I revved to keep it up until it warmed up. If it stalled then it was extremely hard to get started again. Scary when you think your going to get stranded.
the revving was very choppy.

Thanks for the input guy's. That's the weird part about it you would think that it would go away after warm up but it actually get's worse. Like I said in the morning on my way to work runs fine no problem at all but after work on my way home it starts to act up again. Ive almost got hit pulling out into traffic it bogged down right in the middle of the intersection and car's were coming but then it just picked up. It's pretty weird. I think im going to spend the 50 and just buy one of the used one's on here the only reason I say that is becouse every MAF that ive gotten from the junk yards have been realy dirty and fool of S@#T so I think there just getting screwd up in the first place.

This what I think might be happen if you can, answer the following questions?
1. Can the RPMS rev past 2,500, (If no It's defineatly the MAF).
2. When the car is in motion does the RPMS shoot up to 2,500-3,000 and the car seems like it is slowly shuting down or choking down.(If yes, that's MAF realted)
3. You can here the car scream and all of a sudden the car takes a dive (It's the MAF).
4. Try cleaning out the MAF then try the installation again. If this does not work get the MAF and the harness tested and check the readings.

Car drives great with the new MAF thank's to Bassbreaker. I think I just had a streak of bad luck with the MAF's I purchased at the junk yard's will never buy parts like that again from a junk yard. To answer your question Maxed out it would just bog down when ever it was never spacific I would start with the MAF it's a good place to start. Bassbreaker has another one for sale as well PM him he'll hook you up.

Sorry forgot about the other questions. Yes I did reset the ECU every time, and I did throw a code for the MAF so that's how I new it was the MAF the whole time but I just wasntd to make sure.
