Anybody heard of "Spyder V6 Header Exhaust"?

http://www.raceonusa.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=8298

the listing is for a header/y-pipe combo...for just over $200.

has anyone used or heard of this brand? sounds like a plain jane eBay brand, but some eBay stuff is actually pretty good.

i'm ready for the huge upgrade, and for $200 i could do it right now! but of course, i'm always a little wary around insanely "good" deals. let me know your thoughts!

EDIT: they also have a cat-back from same brand for ~$140

raceonusa is a pretty legit company, but as far as fitment for our cars I'm not sure. As for s chassis's they are great.

Any reason you want headers? Just get a Y, problem solved.

IIRC not a single person on here has Spyder exhaust components (at least, haven't posted about them), so no reviews on the org.

Personally, I wouldn't bother. $200 for a Y, and you'll make virtually the same power as headers and a Y.

Are headers not worth it? I mean for nearly the same price why not get headers why you're at it.

That question is easily answered by a simple search.

Yes, you may get slight gains from headers over just getting a Y. However, the install process is prohibitively labor intensive, really. It's just not worth the work for the power unless you're trying to go all out and get every last bit of power.

And if you are, you certainly wouldn't be going with a $200 set of POS headers.

g4nismo... lawl.

thanks pmohr i didn't realize headers do so little for our cars... most of my discussions regarding exhaust are with my 5.5 gen owning brother, where everything is flip-flopped.

like, a catback does little for 4th gen, but it's a must have for 5.5's
a y-pipe does little for a 5.5 gen, but it's a must have for 4th gens.

however, headers and a y-pipe are the way to go for a 5.5 gen and i assumed that would hold true for us as well.

i'm really trying hard to find a cheap, yet great y-pipe... when i stumbled on this, i was like hey, 2 birds. one stone.

guess there's a reason i never heard of them hahaha

As far as the $200ish range of headers for our cars is concerned, they are pretty much the same, XS Racing, Spyder, doesn't really matter they are all unequal length Y pipe shorty collectors. I actually have a set installed on my car now (XS Racing). Here's the problem(s) with headers...

Firstly, the bolts on the headers are usually terribly rusted by this time and can be a PITA to remove (in one piece). Secondly, attaching the rear collector is an unbelievable PITA, which is what pmohr was referring to I'm sure. And lastly, the included gaskets are friggin cardboard and won't last a even a few months so you need to factor in the cost of new oem steel gaskets for the exhaust which will set you back about almost $100 for all of them. Also if you do want to go ahead with it, you should consider fiberglass headerwrap to control the heat soak in the engine bay.

In conclusion, swapping headers on our cars is not like doing a header on a fwd 4 cylinder or a rwd 8 cylinder for that matter, its a lot worse. If you know someone who has experience doing this job and can do it with you or for you and you're not phased by the extra cost, go for it. Otherwise you won't be missing much with just a Y pipe.
