high pitched whine noise from engine???
allright, its right around the front passenger near the belts, idler pulley maybe going bad??? belts were replaced awhile back in feb?? i think he may have overtightened them cause they squeal at start up even in the warm weather, but only for a second. he adjusted them twice and still a small squeal, when the fans kick on, you hear a high pitched whine and it stops when the fans kick off?? ideas??? thanks pmohr, lol, i did check the fsm car runs fine

allright, hopefully its not raining tomorrow and i get a minute to record it, and it actually makes the noise. does yours start when fans kick on??? does it start when your running ac or all the time?? mines random, i also noticed there was a wire hanging in front of the one fan and almost got caught when it kicked in!! i wrapped it around the other post next to it, going to fix that right tomorrow.

I can't see a connection between the idler pulley and the fans. If you say the noise comes when the fans turn on its not the pulley. I am not that familiar but it could be alternator? I mean, more load because of the fans and the alti stars making noise. just a thought

nah, alty would'nt do that, plus my belts were'nt adjusted properly when installed. been making a squeal almost every time i start her. im gonna play it by ear, maybe have my mechanic take a look at her tomorrow.

If it is not an idler pulley or bearing sticking, your belts may need to be tightened and rechecked. The noise coming when the fan comes on, may be due to the extra load on the alternator. The belts will then load up more and slip causing the squeal.
