? about the condition of my front brembo and hawk hps

So my brakes have started to squeal and squeak. All the time. So I was looking. I have Brembo blanks with Hawk pads, the hps I believe. All around.

So this is what I can see, the front rotors have like ridges/grooves in them. But It's not down the wear indicator on the rotor. But the rears are perfectly smooth. And all pads have lots of life left.

While I'll drive and they're squealing, if I use the e-brake, the squeal remains. But then if I apply just the right amount of brake it goes away, so I'm pretty sure it's the fronts. Also I get LOTS of brake dust on the front wheels. Now the questions;

Is that an issue how the front rotors have ridges/valleys in them? My dad says it is and recommends I replace them asap.

Why would they be wearing funny like that instead of smooth?

If I replace them I need to do the rotor and the pad correct? Could the pads be resurfaced if I got just new rotors?

Thanks.

Grooves are caused by grains of sand and whatnot getting stuck in your pads causing uneven rotor wear. People usually resurface rotors when they replace pads as pads wear faster than rotors. I haven't heard of resurfacing pads but if you can do that, why not resurface both?

you are just going to run into the same problem if you dont replace the pads when you resurface or replace the front rotors.

I just had to replace my front pads (which had only 10k on them) and oem rotors because they warped. it sucks to have to replace a part that still has lots of life in it but sometimes you just have to bight the bullet.

Let me know if you want any help, i'm also in the "801"

That's what I was thinking, if I replace one I've gotta kind do the other along with it.

Oh that's cool. Are you on UtahNissans.com? Where do you mostly drive? I hardly ever see nice Max's around.

I would agree except I just got a job after two months of unemployment. So money is a little tight while I get back on top of the finances. So pretty much that I did in fact need to get new pads and rotors

replace or resurface the rotors (you're probably going to pay $30-40 to have them resurfaced, or you can replace them for like $50-60 at any parts store). keep your existing pads and go at the surface of them with sand paper or a belt sander just a little bit, see if you still have the squeal. if you do then replace the pads. it takes all of about 30 minutes to replace them. don't forget to use antisqueal grease on the pad backing plates, shims, etc.

I am on there with the same nick name. I haven't been as active as here though. if you need any help let me know too. I have another friend that has a Maxima as well.

Oh, mine is not the best looking Max around and if you don't know me you won't know that I am a member of any forums
I only have clear bumper lights and everything else is stock. My biggest thing is that I have an Arkansas plate (no emissions, inspections etc. required there)
